Black Company

Introduction

Originally organized as a single military company under direct command of the first King, King Gottfrid, it has expanded far beyond its unit type into a full-fledged military force, the purpose of which is to protect the independence and neutral sovereignty of the Kingdom of Scandinavia. While not as technologically advanced as their neighbor, the Eurasian Federation, or their longtime ally, the Orb Union, the Kingdom of Scandinavia’s military arm makes due with a skillful and vast fleet.

The current King serves as the Commander-in-Chief of both the Black Company’s Army and Navy.

Army

The Black Company Army consists of the usual armor, infantry, and artillery, but aerospace assets are split and integrated into the Army and Navy branches. The same policies apply to mobile suits, which are in its infancy of usage within the Kingdom. The Armies are trained in a variety of terrains but excel especially at high-mobility cold weather combat. Their proficiency has protected them from any Eurasian encroachments as their continued alertness and preparation continue to maintain the Kingdom's sovereignty

Royal Guards

Then there are the Royal Guards, an elite group of men and women who are under the direct personal command of the King. These men and women are the elite of the elite, having to go through additional rigorous training to make themselves far more than a regular soldier. They cross-train and become specialists in multiple fields, such as hand-to-hand combat, melee weaponry combat, explosives, sniping, and more recently, mobile weaponry.

They also have an abbreviated command structure, but they usually work independently of the main Black Company military. In the few cases where they need to cooperate with the regular military, their ranks are equivalent to two ranks above their regular equivalent. (Example: A Royal Guard Fänrik would hold the rank of Kapten if he or she needed command authority within either Army or Navy.)
